Ya es pday? Ya es mi cumpleaños? uh oh…..

Hey hey hey!!!!!!! Hows it going in cold old California? JAred told me the AC broke, hahaha its getting really cold in Chile now! jajaja
Well, sounds like all is going well there!! He is such a stud! hahaha Its good to hear that all is well!! What are the super fun plans for the summer?
Well, this week has been awesome!! I saw so many milagros this week!! TO start, this past wednesday we were in a zone meeting (we have district and zone meetings every wednesday) and someone called me. So i ran outside with my comp and answered the phone and someone said (a rough english translation) “Hey elders how are you doing?” and i replied “good, who are we talking with?” and the man responded “Jonathon, and i read the little book about Joseph Smith that you gave me and i want to go to church and get baptized.” and i said “awesome! We are going to pass by tomorrow!” and soo yeah, He is a new investigator that we found like 2 months ago and stopped passing by because he wasnt progressing… and now he wants to learn more, get baptized and change his life! So we are working with him now and its some awesome!!
Then the next day we went to a lesson with an investigator and we were with a recient convert and this investigador hadnt been progressing too much. So we were in the lesson and i want really sure what to do, and i said a quick prayer in my head that the Spirit would guide us. Then after that prayer, the lesson started to pick up and the Spirit literally guided us in every part. Like, the investigador would say something and the spirit then told us what to say and do and it was INCREDIBLE!! So after the lesson this investigator started to progress!
So yeah, those were just 2 of the many milagros that i saw this past week, but the Lord has just been blessing us!!! A funny thing we did this week was that is was raining on and off a few days (not heavy rain, but just a little) so when we were contacting, the people said “what do you want” and we replied “Well, were missionaries and we are really cold and wet, could we share a message with you?” and it worked a few times, jajaja it was really funny!!

Wow, Winter Arrived in Just a Week!!!

Hey hey hey!!!!!! How is it going family??? I sure hope it is all nice and warm there in the States, it is getting COLD here in Chile!!!!
I glad that all has gone really well and that you went skiing!! Thats one of the few things i miss, jajaja especialmente porque los Andes tiene mucha nieve ahora….
Well, based on the title i am sure you can guess….. so t has been getting cold, and its sweater weather now!!! But then on saturday night it began to rain a little and ALL DAY SUNDAY IT WAS RAINING!!!! It rained so much that the main river that runs through santiago se botó!!! It overflowed!!!!! (so i was told) and like aparently the streets werent street, but rather they were rivers!!!! Jajaja so yeah, after lunch we were walking home so i could change my socks (they were soaked!!!!) and becuase when i walked bubles came out of my shoes because they were so wet (that was funny!) and we got a call from the Zl that we had to go home for the rest of the day porque the weather was so bad….. so yeah, winter is here in Chile!!! (the chileans are scared of the rain….. like if its raining they all hide inside and they tell us “i wont talk to you because its raining…. so rain is lame as a missionary) jaja
Alrighty, so Friday was AWESOME!!!! Unfortunetly we didnt even work in our sector Friday (NOT awesome) but i went to the temple with a member from Peñaflor, my first ward, and it was his first time!! So we went to the temple and the dad and his son from my first ward were there too!!!! It was sooo amazing to see them all and to go to the temple with this member!!! Man, then, we left the temple at 9 at night (President was there and gave us special permissio) and we had to sleep in the house of other elders in a different zone because it was so late…. so yeah, there were 9 of us in a house for 4 missionaries….. that was fun!!!
So my comp and i have had a rough change (well, the change ended yesterday and we are both staying here for on emore change). We had lots of investigators come to church and then when we met with them afterwards they told us “yeah, we dont wan to go to church” y eso….. plus we havent been able to find any investigators that have progressed really well…… its been hard because the ZL have been pushing for lots of baptisms and the rest of the zone has had a lot of success. The good news is that I have learned a lot about being humble and just trusting in the Lord and just being grateful for all of the blessings that we have! Even though we arent having the success i have hoped for, i am super happy just knowing that all is well and that i am serving the Lord!
i will send fotos!!!!

Chile!!!!!!

Familia!!!!! ¿Cómo les va la vida? Espero que todo les haya ido bien!!!! Todo está tranquilo acá en Chile!!!
Well, first off, SHOUTOUT TO MO HOMIE ETHAN IZU WHO WILL SHORTLY BE JOINING ME HERE IN LA MISIÓN CHILE SANTIAGO OESTE!!!!!!!!! Best news ever!!!!
Hahaha i am SOOOO stoked!!!!! Como, en serio, eso es genial!!!!!!
Well, way to go mark!!! That fundraiser sounds pretty dang cool!!!
soooo this week has been pretty cool!
First off, we still have had little to no success in finding new investigators….. so I asked the ZLs to do divisions to help us out. So ELder Johnson came (he is a beast and finds like 7 news every day…) so yeah, we were literally running from house to house contacting 2 houses at a time and talking with EVERYONE and no one listened to us… nadie nos pescó, jajajaja pero we had sooo much fun!!! like, its sounds wierd, but i was just so happy to be serving the Lord that it didnt matter to me if we had found any new investigators… hahaha so yeah!
Another amazing thing is that we went to the temple!!!! We went with a convert and She lived it!!1 I have really leared about the importance of going to the temple. It is an extension of our own baptisms and its a great oportunity to feel the spirit and help others recieve their salvation, so try and go to the temple as often as you can, you will be blessed for it!
Hahaha another really funny thing that happened this week. So my comp and i were contacting in the morning on this one street and a group of 5 dogs began to follow us and play with us (all of the latinos say that there are more dogs in chile than in the other countries. Normally there are always about 5 or 6 in sight at all times, and sometimes they try and bight us) hahaha so yeah, tenía una pandilla de perros que me siguieron por un tiempo. I took pictures, but this computer doesnt have a slot…. sorry…. next week. But its just funny things like that that im sure the Lord makes happen (thats how you would say the frase in spanish…) just so that we missionaries have a good time, hahaha there are always little things like that!
So we do have an investigator that is goin to get baptized this sunday. She is progressing well and came to church this past sunday! it was awesome! She had a great time. We are going to pass by her house tonight to teach more about Baptism! I love teaching about baptism and repentance, its sooo much fun!!! And another investigator came to church as well! He is going to get baptized a week from saturday! So yeah, even though we havent had as much success as i would have like, the Lord always blesses us for our diligence and faith.

Well, sounds like you guys have had quite the week! I am glad that everyone is doing well! Mark, way to beat that kid in tenis!!! Whoops, that was spanish…
First off, SHOUTOUT TO CATHERINE WHO IS COMING TO THE GREATEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So yeah, well this week was also hard…. my back was killing me lots of days and nobody wanted to hear our message…. My comp and I have really struggled to find good investigators that are progressing…. We have a few that are soooooo engaged in the lessons and then when we call them to set up other appointments, they just arent too interested…. so its been a little hard, but ive just learned that the Lord has His plan. Ive just got to do my best and be happy because i cant change His plan for me, hahaha.
So the family that came to church, well we have tried to pass by a few times and havent had success….. they arrive really late but we are going to pass by tonight. The dad and sons are super interested but the wife isnt as interested. She kinda felt out of place in church and some people have told her a few things about the church and we havent been able to talk to her yet, but we are going to pass by with leaders from the Relief Society and see what the Spirit can help us do!
So Conferencia was awesome!!! I went in with a few personal questions and tried to just enjoy the “spiritual banquet” as our President said, jajaja I sure felt the spirit and loved how LOTS of people talked about the Temple!!! The temple is just sooo amazing! The one thing I miss as a missionary is not going to the temple when i want. We can go with converts, but i would love to be able to go more often!

Im glad that you guys have had a melow week!! And wow, i have more cousins on the way???? How many do i even have???? hahaha well, the more the marrier, right? Im glad that dads work is going well and that mark has found a nice new nap spot, hahaha.
Wellllllll the week, this was quite the week! In spite of that (thats how the frase is in spanish…. i forfgot how it is in english, sorry…) we worked super hard and personally i feel like i am being a better missionary every day we had little succes. GRanted, i did get a little sick and wasnt able to work full (chillean for full effort) all the time, the people just didnt want to listen to us… but it was only the Lord testing our faith because the biggest miracle and testimony builder of my life happened this sunday!!!
SOOOOOO remember that family of 4 we were working with? Yeah, wel like 2 weeks passed by without us being able to pass by them. We have really been tring to work with the members better to get references and baptize more converts that are stronger in the church, and well, the MEMBERS BROUGHT THE FAMILY TO CHURCH SUNDAY!!!!!!! It was amazing!!!!!! So yeah, and they absolutely LOVED the church. We are passing by tonigh to put a baptismal date with them!! woo hoo!!!!! But now i have a strong testimony about the importance of working with the members. They are sooo important so that the investigators not only progress, but have stronger testimonies when they get baptized! All members, try and help the missionaries. You guys make such ana amazing difference!
So yeah, something really cool I learned this week is difference between knowing something and understanding something. Especially when it has to do with the Gospel. According to the scriptures, knowing something is like, knowing it, like knowing facts, numbers, dates, information, stuff like that. But understanding something is letting this information arrive at your heart. That is when a testimony begins to grow within us and we understand it. This can be applied to both Gospel and non Gospel topics! in John 7:17 it says that if we do someting (an experiment or obey a commanment) we will recieve a testimony that the information is of men or of God. So to be able to understand, we must open our hearts and put in practice what we have learned, otherwise its just knowledge (thats not bad, but if we understand it, we retain it and become more intelligent!) So yeah, try and learn with your hearts and not just your heads!!
